Drew Michael McCormack, age 20

A 20-year-old Auburn man was arrested by Auburn police on Wednesday and charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.  

The arrest of Drew Michael McCormack was the result of an investigation into a sexual assault reported on May 3 that occurred at a residence on North Donahue Drive.

According to the 19-year-old female victim, McCormack, an acquaintance, and she met while out with friends at a local downtown establishment. The victim later left the establishment with McCormack, sharing a ride to their individual residences.

A short time later, McCormack arrived at her residence uninvited, entered and forcibly sexually assaulted her, police said. 

An investigation into the incident was initiated by Auburn Police. As a result, detectives were able to confirm that McCormack was responsible for sexually assaulting the victim, according to a police report issued Wednesday. 

McCormack was taken into custody after arriving at the Auburn Police Division Building to be interviewed and later transported to the Lee County Jail where he was being held on a $125,000 bond.
