Chicken fingers

A Mobile area fast-food chicken restaurant is expanding to Auburn.

Foosackly’s posted on its Facebook page that it would be expanding to Auburn after more than 18 years in Mobile.

The restaurant is hoping to open early to mid-fall, however, the timeline is not set, Edward Robinson, manager with Foosackly’s, said.

“We will have some prep work and permitting to do,” he said.

Foosackly’s is planning to open in the former Schlotzky’s restaurant building, near the intersection of Dean Road and Glenn Avenue.

“It looks like that intersection is going to be chicken finger central,” Robinson said.

The Auburn location will be the chain’s 13th location and its first in central Alabama, but Robinson said the restaurant has wanted to move to the Auburn area of awhile.

“We looked at dozen of potential locations and nothing seemed to click,” he said. “This location finally popped up and all the details came together, so we are finally able to move forward.”

Foosackly’s currently has 10 locations in the Mobile area and two locations in western Florida, both in the Pensacola area, according to the company’s website.
