The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Interstate 85 in Opelika Thursday, according to a police spokesman.
According to Capt. Bruce DeLong of the Opelika Police Department, his agency received a call at about 7:12 p.m. regarding an officer-involved shooting along the northbound lane of I-85 between the Torbert Road and West Point Parkway exits, where a person was injured. DeLong did not describe the subject's injuries.
DeLong said the person who was shot was taken to East Alabama Medical Center and that as far as he knew, the officer was fine.
“At this time, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation has been notified to handle the investigation and we have no additional comment other than that,” DeLong said.
No names or further information was released.
