The Phenix City Police Department is investigating two separate overnight shooting incidents, one of which killed a woman.

The first shooting was reported to Phenix City police shortly before 9:20 p.m. Monday at 1604 20th Ave. When police arrived they found a deceased female victim with an apparent gunshot wound.

The identity of the female victim was not released early Tuesday.

The victim was pronounced deceased at 11:40 p.m. by the Russell County Coroners Office.

Witnesses told police a vehicle was seen speeding away from the scene of the drive-by shooting. No vehicle description was available.

Later, at about 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, an unknown vehicle, with unknown occupants, fired multiple shots into a residence in the 1600 block of 13th Street, police said.

No injuries were reported.

Both cases remain under investigation and are not related, police said.
