Christina Prather Williams, 39, of Valley.

The owner of a Valley business that processes tax returns is in custody after being accused of stealing federal income tax refunds from several of her customers, authorities say.

Christina Prather Williams, 39, was arrested July 1 and again on Sunday and is charged with first-degree theft of property, Valley police said in a Thursday morning news release.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the Valley Police Department into the allegations.

Williams has owned and operated Family Tax Services, located at 85 Trammell Avenue, since 2016.

The Internal Revenue Service was contacted by police to assist in the case.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending as more victims are identified, said police.

Police ask that if anyone is a client of Family Tax Service and has not yet received their 2018 income tax return to contact Lt. Chris Daniel at 334-756-5261.

Also, police encourage anyone is a former client or has already received their tax return to contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to determine if the amount issued is what they received.
