Traffic backed up on Interstate 85 northbound at Exit 66 midday Wednesday after two sedans collided, blocked both lanes for over a half-hour and caused a one-mile backup.
Police didn't release any details, but at least one person was seen by an Opelika Auburn News reporter being transported from the scene. The vehicles were both severely damaged. One towed a motorboat and the trailer jack knifed across both lanes.
Police were able to open one of the lanes to traffic within 45 minutes and divert traffic up the exit's northbound off ramp and back onto the facing on ramp.
Another minor accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. near mile marker 67 northbound on I-85, but police didn't any details about that one, either.
