November 18, 1956 - March 15, 2020 David Jerome (Boone) Crawford a resident of Auburn, AL, 63, who passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020 at his home in Auburn, Alabama, was born November 18, 1956, in Lee County, AL to the late Ellen Crawford and Lonnie V. Lockhart. David, affectionately known as "Boone", was a graduate of Auburn High School and later enlisted in the US Army in 1975. He was a proud father and loved spending time with his children. Boone was an avid Auburn University football fan and if you knew him, you would always hear him say "don't spook me". May 18, 1933 - March 18, 2020 William (Bill) Florence, Sr. age 86, of Opelika passed away March 18, 2020. William was born May 18, 1933 in Harris County, Georgia to the late Herbert and Leona Cole Florence. William was married to his wife, Myrtle Baker Florence 68 years. William was employed with the Opelika Water Works Board for 33 years, and retired as Manager in 1993. He enjoyed bass fishing and spent his retirement traveling by motor coach. William was an active member of Opelika First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, William C. Florence, Jr.; parents, and niece Sadie Lynn Cooper Morris. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Baker Florence; son, Larry H. Florence; daughter, Julie Weldon Buchanan; niece, Susan Cooper Rosenbloom; Lisa Florence, daughter-in-law; sister-in-law, Karen Gardner; Carly Florence Potts, as well as several other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. Public viewing will be Friday, March 20, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. Mrs. Jackson will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service. Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Lynda McDaniels, 72, of Opelika, AL will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Thompson Chapel AME Zion Church with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Rev. Charles Adams will officiate. Mrs. McDaniels passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 at Columbus Specialty Hospital. She was a member of Thompson Chapel AME Zion Church. Until her health declined, she served as a member of the Usher Board, Wilson Club, Pastor's Aide Board and the Culinary Committee. In 1966, she graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in Warren, OH. She furthered her education at Kent State University. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. She is survived by: her husband, Allen McDaniel of Opelika, AL; three children, Stephanie Jackson of Marietta, GA, Michael Strickland, Sr. of Newport News, VA and Anita Jackson of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, Arielle Jackson, Michael Strickland, Jr., Marquale Strickland, Chance Strickland, Nya Syndab and Rickey Syndab, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Konnor Grimmett and Zahir Strickland; an uncle, Henry Lewis (Lottie) Kellom of Altamonte Springs, FL; several cousins, adopted children and cherished friends.
December 2, 1920 - March 12, 2020 Grace Newman Polidoro of Auburn, AL passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on Thursday, March 12, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband William J. Polidoro and son Benjamin Polidoro. Survivors include daughter Keren Jones (Frank), son Van (Martina), daughter-in-law Shelby Polidoro, granddaughter Bridget French (Brad), granddaughter Kristin Towe (Charles), granddaughter Amanda Demyan (Christian) and great grandchildren Owen and Kate French, and Carter, Walker, and John Sawyer Demyan. Private graveside services will be led by John Dale Rector. Pallbearers are Christian Demyan, Adam Finley, Brad French, Owen French, Caleb Leikvold, and Charles Towe.
