August 18, 1948 June 11, 2019 Douglas Gregg Hearon, 70, passed away on June 11, 2019 in Auburn, AL. Gregg was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Annette Hearon & his daughter, Chase Hearon. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jan Hearon; step-mother: Opal Hearon; son: Jason Hearon; daughters: Heather Kruse (James Kruse) & Cali Hearon; sister-in-law: Betty Delaney (Tony Delaney); step-sister: Monica Davis (Larry Davis); grandchildren: Alex Hearon, Cammie Hearon, Graham Hearon, Ayden Kruse & Kelsie Kruse; nieces, nephews and other family members. Gregg was born and grew up in Mobile, AL. He served in the US Navy from 1969-1973. He graduated from Auburn University's School of Pharmacy in 1976. In 1978 he purchased his first pharmacy in Grand Bay, AL and for the next 39 years he served the community as their local pharmacist. His passions were all things Auburn, traveling to see as much of the world as possible, medical missions to Africa, and especially a good conversation over a good meal with good friends. He lived his life utterly and unconditionally in love with his wife, deeply devoted to his family and fiercely loyal to his friends. Gregg, a follower of Jesus Christ, never claimed perfection, but rejoiced over his redemption. He walked through both the good days and the dark days of his life with grace and peace because of his faith in the strength and power of his Savior's love. Always trusting God's Word that he would one day be at home in heaven proclaiming, "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!" (Rev. 5:13b) He will be dearly missed by those who love him. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 12pm at Church of the Highlands Auburn Campus located at 2001 E Samford Ave. Auburn, AL 36830. Because of Gregg's involvement with their medical mission trips to Africa, in lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in his name to Medreach, Inc. at PO Box 9875 Mobile, AL 36691 or Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home & Crematory directing.
