December 17, 1930 - October 1, 2019 Ms. Lorna Anice Wiggins died peacefully at Bethany House in Auburn, AL Tuesday evening, October 1, 2019. She was the daughter of Katherine Harper and Matthew Edwin Wiggins born on December 17, 1930 in Birmingham. AL. She is survived by her only sister, Diane Ledbetter of Grosse Ile, Michigan. She graduated from Phillips High School in 1948. She graduated from Agnes Scott College with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in 1952. She attended the University of Georgia where she studied landscape architecture for three years. She received a Masters of Librarianship from Emory University in 1956. She worked in the libraries at Emory, Georgia Tech, UCLA, Birmingham Southern, and UAB. She retired from Auburn University in 1995 after 27 years of working at the Ralph B. Draughon Library. She volunteered at Hospice for over 30 years. She also volunteered at the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and Village Friends. She taught Sunday school for 20 years and learned a lot from those kindergartners. She was also active in the UMW at Auburn United Methodist Church and was just awarded a UMW service pin for a lifetime of contributions to the community and United Methodist Women. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 5 at 11 am in the AUMC Chapel with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, Lorna requested consideration of a gift be made to One Voice Shelter Coalition, Inc., 414 2nd Ave, Opelika, AL 36801.
