Auburn is headed to Hoover — and now the Tigers know where they stand.
The Auburn baseball team is set to cross with Tennessee in the first round of the SEC Tournament, with mighty Vanderbilt looming.
Auburn is the No. 8 seed in the tournament, which starts Tuesday at the Hoover Metropolitan Complex.
Auburn finalized its seeding Saturday with a 5-4 extra-inning win over LSU on the road.
Auburn will play ninth-seeded Tennessee in the first round of the conference tournament at 4:30 p.m. CT Tuesday. The game is set to be broadcast by SEC Network.
The tournament’s four first-round games are all eliminator games. The four winners will advance to face the four top seeds as the bracket moves to double-elimination activity.
Simply put, Auburn must win Tuesday’s game to avoid going one-and-done. With a win, the Tigers can settle into the eight-team, double-elimination tournament that follows.
Auburn finished its regular season 32-23 and 14-16 in the SEC. Tennessee is 38-18 overall and went 14-16 in the league.
Tuesday’s winner between the Tigers and Volunteers will move on to face Vanderbilt on Wednesday.
The tournament is set to continue on to next Sunday.
